Pondicherry University appoints tainted faculty staff as exam coordinator , Ph 078-380-243-65

PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry University has appointed a faculty member who had been booked on charges of illegally confining and assaulting a student, as the coordinator for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination 2014.

The university registrar in an official communication to the National Eligibility Testing Bureau, New Delhi conveyed the appointment of professor and director of Academic Staff College S Hariharan as the coordinator of the UGC-NET examinations.

Hariharan, officer on special duty (security and vigilance), Booshan Sudhakar, a reader (international business) at the School of Management and two security officers, were booked after a first year postgraduate student Radha Krishnan, of the department of Tamil, lodged a complaint against them saying they illegally confined him for more than 24 hours, assaulted and tortured him to admit that he entered-girls' hostel.
